Jameshedpur FC confirms Pronay Halder's homecoming

Jamshedpur: Indian International footballer Pronay Halder has joined the Indian Super League club Jamshedpur FC on loan from ATK Mohun Bagan. Concurrently Halder, who has a track record of success, has already set his sights on the ISL title with Jamshedpur.

He will join the club’s squad number 8 for the upcoming season of ISL and will begin pre-season training with his new teammates in the coming weeks.

It is indeed a homecoming for the 28-year-old footballer, who is returning to the city where he began his football career with Tata Football Academy.

After joining the club, he stated, “Jamshedpur nurtured my dream of growing to be a professional footballer. Now, I hope to give back and help the city to scale newer heights and bring silverware. I would like to thank the head coach and the management for putting their trust in me and would not leave any chance to repay the faith of them as well as the fans.”

“All clubs begin the season with the aim to win the Indian Super League and we are no different. Primarily, we would like to seal the top-four position, and thereafter, we would plan for the knockout stage,” he added.

Jamshedpur FC Head Coach, Owen Coyle was delighted to have Halder in the squad and said, “Pronay is an Indian International and one of the best and most experienced midfielders in the ISL. He will be a big presence for us with his leadership and command as he makes the game tick for Jamshedpur. Most importantly, Pronay is ever hungry for success. He wants to lift that ISL trophy and that is the winning mentality that made it a no-brainer for us to bring him here.”

In his ten-year career, Halder has made a total of 139 club appearances. The midfielder has also represented India at the international level, appearing 25 times for the Blue Tigers.

After joining Mohun Bagan in 2015-16, he won his first trophy while the Mariners won the Federation Cup. Halder was a key figure in FC Goa’s progress to the ISL semi-finals in the 2017-18 season. After that, he signed a two-year contract with ATK.

Jamshedpur FC has undoubtedly invested a great deal of effort to build a decent squad for the 2021-22 Indian SuperLeague season.
