Italian legend, 1982 World Cup hero Paolo Rossi passes away at 64

Rome: It has been just two weeks since the demise of the great Diego Armando Maradona, we have lost another star from the footballing galaxy. Paolo Rossi, the man who helped Italy to win the 1982 FIFA World Cup has passed away on Thursday (December 10) morning at the age of 64.

He was one of the stars in the history of the FIFA World Cup. The 1982 World Cup’s Golden Boot and Golden Ball winner was working on an Italian TV Channel Rai Sports as a football pundit. He has played for AC Milan and Juventus during his playing career and also won the 1984 European Cup with Juventus player and was considered to be one of the best forward of his time.

He scored the opening goal against West Germany in the 1982 World Cup final in their 3-1 victory and is also remembered for scoring a hat-trick against Brazil in a 3-2 victory in that World Cup in the quarterfinal match.

The cause of his death hasn’t been disclosed till now. His wife tweeted about it on Thursday morning without stating the actual reason for his demise. This has been another loss in the footballing galaxy. We lost another hero of his beautiful game.
