Dubai: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is under huge pressure after his side faced lost back-to-back games in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). With Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh opting out of the tournament, and Ambati Rayudu and Dwayne Bravo still not fully fit, CSK would need to pull their socks up to bring their campaign back on track.

In this situation, the former India skipper has got the backing of his first international captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly. He observed that there is a certain game time that is needed even for the best to get back in form after such a long break.

“In the current situation, it will take some time for him to get back his old touch. He played a cricket match after about 1 year and 6 months. It’s not easy however good you are. It will take some time,” Ganguly said at a media interaction session after he was named the brand ambassador of the Bengal Peerless Group.

Dhoni has announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15. Like many others, the Prince of Kolkata, too wants Dhoni to bat up the order for CSK. The six-month-long break due to the COVID-19 pandemic has messed the whole routine of many players and athletes. Dhoni also mentioned the difficulty while he went through while warming up and getting to play after such a break.

After the CSK’s second game Dhoni was asked about his batting position and the former Indian skipper has stated that he is still not confident to bat higher up the order. “I haven’t batted for a long time. 14-day quarantine doesn’t help,” Dhoni had said.

CSK were the last team to finish the quarantine period and start their training session as earlier before the cash-rich league started in the UAE. 13 members including support staff and two players Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Chahar were tested positive for COVID-19. CSK will be again seen in action on October 2 in Dubai against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
