London: The speculations were round the corner since January. The 21-year-old German midfielder who had a good last season at Bayer Leverkusen has joined the London side, Chelsea, on €60 million. Kai Havertz has played 145 matches for Bayer Leverkusen and has scored 45 goals and has assisted 31 times.
Havertz after the signing has told the media, “I’m happy and proud to be here. It’s a dream to play for a great club like Chelsea and I’m looking forward to meeting the players and coaches.”
The Chelsea side under Frank Lampard was on a rebuilding state last season but this season they have been hitting heights on the transfer market by signing big names. After Timo Werner and Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz was their prime target and it’s all reality for the Chelsea fans. Even likes of Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr and Ben Chilwell have joined the ‘Blues’ this summer making the backline stronger for the upcoming season.
