IPL Retention 2022: MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma retained; KL Rahul, David Warner released

New Delhi: Big names like KL Rahul, Rashid Khan and Hardik Pandya, opener David Warner among others that haven’t been retained by their respective franchises as BCCI unveiled the retention lists on Tuesday (November 30) ahead of the mega action.

The IPL Retention 2022 is here with its twists and turns as the biggest franchise T20 league in the tournament enters its first stage of enlargement. Some will unveil their core, while others might just go with a clean slate for the eight existing Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises.

IPL 2022 is all set to be a mega-event as a total of 10 teams will be participating in the next edition of the cash-rich league. Most of the team is making last minute efforts to keep players of their choice in the lead up to the mega auction next year. The current 8 franchises submitted their list of retained players.

For the 2 new teams which include Lucknow and Ahmedabad, will have the option for retaining 3 players each out of the released players by the current 8 teams. The 3 players will be a combination of a maximum of two Indians or two overseas. The IPL 2022 mega auction is expected to be held in January.

Mumbai Indians (MI) Players Retained:
Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians use all four retention spots. Skipper Rohit Sharma – INR 16 Crore, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah – INR 12 Crore Suryakumar Yadav – INR 8 Crore West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard – INR 6 Crore.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Players Retained:
CSK make Ravindra Jadeja their first retention for Rs 16 crores. The franchise also retained legendary skipper MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad for Rs 12 crores, Rs 8 crore and Rs 6 crore respectively.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Players Retained: RCB retain three players ahead of the IPL 2022 auction. Virat Kohli – INR 15 Crore
Glenn Maxwell – INR 11 Crore Mohammed Siraj – INR 7 Crore respectively.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Players Retained:
KKR retain their West Indian stars Sunil Narine and Andre Russell but release big players like Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Shubman Gill, Pat Cummins. Andre Russell – Rs. 16 crore Varun Chakaravarthy – Rs. 12 crore Venkatesh Iyer – Rs 8 crore Sunil Narine  – Rs 6 crore.

Delhi Capitals (DC) Players Retained: Delhi Capitals have announced their list of retained players as Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan and Kagiso Rabada miss out. Rishabh Pant – Rs. 16 crore Axar Patel – Rs. 12 crore Prithvi Shaw – Rs 8 crore Anrich Nortje – Rs 6 crore

Punjab Kings (PBKS) Players Retained:
Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul has been released by the franchise. PBKS retained Mayank Agarwal INR 12 Crore Arshdeep Singh – INR 4 Crore.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) Players Retained: RR have retained Sanju Samson – 14 crore Jos Buttler – 10 crore Yashasvi Jaiswal (uncapped) – 4 crore.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Players Retained:
Sunrisers Hyderabad has released star opener David Warner and Rashid Khan. SRH retained Kane Williamson – INR 14 Crore Abdul Samad – INR 4 Crore Umran Malik – INR 4 Crore.
