ISL 2021-22: Kerala Blasters stun 10-man Mumbai City

Goa : Kerala Blasters edge past 10-man Mumbai City FC with a comprehensive 3-0 win in the Indian Super League 2021 at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda on Sunday.

The table toppers were close to have the lead in the second minute as the pass from Ahmed Jahouh found it’s way to Cassio Gabriel but was cleared by Gill till the post.
Today’s game witnessed an end to end fight as Vazquez’s stinging shot was brilliantly saved by Mohammad Nawaz.Vazquez was proactive today as the Spanish made some moves for Kerala off the balls and also found joy in the final third of the game. Sahal Abdul Samad (27′) , Alvaro Vazquez(47′) and Pereyra Diaz (51) scored for the Blasters, as they made it to the fifth spot in the table with six games. A chance from Igor Angulo was saved by the keeper following a corner from Mandar Rao Dessai.

The Blasters seemed to be on the stronger side as Sahal volleyed past Nawaz from the pass coming from Diaz.
The misery for the Islanders continued as Vazquez gave a magic start in the second half. A lovely ball from Jeakson Singh found it’s way to the right side of Vazquez as he smashed a spot-on volley into the top corner of the net.

Mumbai was put down to 10 men as Mourtada Fall received his second yellow card, tackling Diaz inside the box. Diaz made to mistake to convert the spot-kick into 3-0 and take the game away from Mumbai. The Islanders got some chances to get on the time ack but efforts of Bipin Singh, Mehtab Singh and Rayniet Fernandes were wide out of target. Vazquez also got a opportunity to double his score but failed to keep balance.

Following today’s loss, Hyderabad FC, Jamshedpur FC and Chennaiyin FC can reduce the gap on the reigning champions, but Mumbai City FC is still at top with 15 points from seven matches.
