ISL 2021-22: Ishan Pandita’s last-minute strike vs SC East Bengal seals Jamshedpur FC top-four spot

Goa: A strong performance from Jamshedpur FC steals the show from SC East Bengal with 1-0 at Athletic Stadium in Bambolim.

The match started with both the teams creating half chances but there were hardly anything to separate the teams. In the 27th minute, Murray found some space behind the defensive line minute but Arindam Bhattacharya made some quick actions. Bhattacharya left the box to make the clearance. The game did not saw any major possibilities till the half-hour mark.  Minutes before the half-time, Boris Singh made a good chance to break the deadlock. The header from the unmarked winger went away the crossbar.  In spite of creating successive attacks and holding the possession, the Men of Steel were not able to score.

Jamshedpur started the second half with a dominating attitude from Jordan Murray’s crossbar hitting from a looping header.  Just before the hour mark, Darren Sidoel replaced injured defender Adil Khan. Arindam stood strong on the post, saving multiples from Murray.  The last fifteen minutes witnessed an intensified attack from the Jamshedpur. Murray again triggered the target in the 85th minute but Arindam stood in between.

Striker Ishan Pandita (85’) headed fiercely from Greg Stewart’s corner. Pandita secured the top spot for JFC. The three points broke the heart of the Red and Gold. Jamshedpur is leading the score board with 19 points.  Jamshedpur FC will face high-flying Hyderabad FC at the Athletic Stadium. SC East Bengal to meet Derrick Pereira’s FC Goa at the same venue on Wednesday.
