ISL 2021-22: Igor Angulo’s brace drowns FC Goa against Mumbai City FC

Goa: Former FC Goa player, Igor Angulo scored a brace as FC Goa were defeated by 3-0 by Mumbai City FC in 2021-22 Hero Indian Super League (ISL) match at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Monday( November 22).The Islanders begin their title defence in the best way possible with a comfortable victory.

Ivan Gonzalez mistimed tackle on Gabriel, resulted in a penalty kick which was eventually converted by Angulo on 33 minutes. Rubbing further salts to the wound the former FC Goa man doubled his team’s lead under three minutes.

Raynier Fernandes played the ball to Angulo who rushed past the defenders and with a fierce shot put the ball out of Dheeraj Singh’s reach. As the play opened up Mumbai looked much more menancing. Juan Ferrando looked for solution as he bought in Nongdamba Naorem in the second half.

Edu Bedia, the captain FC Goa almost looked to pull one back for the Gaurs, but his half volley went over the bar. Ygor Catatau came off the bench and nodded in a free-kick by Ahmed Jahouh on 76 minutes, sealing the game in favour of his team.

FC Goa would have lot to ponder over, as they take on Jamshedpur FC for their next match and they would look to wash their bitter taste with a victory over. As for the reigning champions they take on Hyderabad FC, with a positive and righteous start to their season.
