ISL 2021-22: Bartholomew Ogbeche surpasses Sunil Chettri, ATK Mohun Bagan hold Kerala Blasters

Panjim: The Indian Super League saw a double of nerve wrecking encounters as Hyderabad FC narrowly edged over FC Goa with a 3-2 score line, while Kerala Blasters were held in a late 2-2 draw. A brace from Bartholomew Ogbeche saw him surpass, Bengaluru FC skipper Sunil Chettri as the highest ISL goal scorer with 51 goals. The brace advanced the Hyderabad FC forward in the Golden Boot race as well with 16 goals to his name.

Hyderabad opened the scoring in the first half, through Ogbeche in the 25th minute. Ashish Rai went against the run of play and fed the forward with an appropriate cross. Ogbeche put that in to give the Nizams a deserving lead. However Jorge Ortiz brought Goa back in the game. Ogbeche restored the lead for the Nizams just going into the break.

Coming for the break, Joao Victor scored to double the lead, while looking desperate for equalizers FC Goa found a consolation goal through Durand Cup game, Devendra Murgaonkar. With the loss FC Goa is in the 9th position, with NorthEast United FC and SC East Bengal behind them.

Else where, sitting on a brace from Adrian Luna , Kerala Blasters were set to get hold of three points despite an early David Williams equalizer. However, Euro 2020 game, Joni Kauko’s 97th minute equalizer stripped them off so. The encounter saw Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Prabir Das recieve red cards and get suspended.
