Panjim: The 1-0 win against Chennaiyin FC grants the ATKMB side a semi final spot. The Mariners have now secured the semi final spot for a second consecutive season. Roy Krishna’s first strike of this calendar year in the extra time of the first half was enough for the Juan Ferrando side to get the three points.

The Green and Marroun brigade will face the table topper Jamshedpur FC for their next match on 7th March. ATKMB are right behind them at the second spot with one less game in hand.

The match was totally in control of the Bagan brigade with them having most of the possession throughout both halves. The Chennai side tried counter-attacking but the threats were minimal for the Sandesh Jhingan led defense. The entire Mohun Bagan defense had a great night on the pitch which will be a good sign for Ferrando before the Semis. The likes of Carl Mchugh and Joni Kauko were also very sharp in midfield.

Germanpreet Singh and Salam Singh duo looked lively on the pitch for Chennai.Chennaiyin didn’t really have a chance of qualifying for the play offs. They ended their Indian Super League 2021-22 campaign at the 8th spot with 20 points. They had a tough season with their Marquee coach being sacked due to the continuation of poor results in the middle of the campaign. Syed Pasha, their interim coach couldn’t end this disappointing season on a high note for the Marina Machans.
