Kolkata: After India’s ODI series victory over the West Indies, white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma shared a selfie of his teammates on social media following the IPL 2022 auction. Yuzvendra Chahal, Ishan Kishan, Shardul Thakur, Rishabh Pant, and Suryakumar Yadav were seen in a hotel room with their eyes glued to the TV screen in a shot that Rohit Sharma put as his Instagram story.

Kishan and Iyer looked joyful in the photo and had already been picked by Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). MI splashed INR 15.25 crore on the wicketkeeper-batter, which also made him the most expensive buy in the ongoing auction. He overtook Iyer, who was earlier picked for INR 12.25 crore by KKR.

Rohit annotated the shot to match the mood of the scene, as, “Some tensed and some happy faces”.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals (DC) retained Pant who replaced Shreyas Iyer last season as the side’s full-time skipper. On the other hand, Suryakumar, Shardul, and Chahal haven’t gone under the hammer yet.

Hugh Edmeades, a seasoned auctioneer, collapsed during the first session in Bengaluru, adding to the intensity of the ongoing auction. Charu Sharma, a veteran sports presenter, has been entrusted with the auction responsibilities for the duration of the event yesterday.

Edmeades is well and will most likely return for today’s auction session, which begins at 12 PM in Bengaluru.
