Lucknow : Delhi Capitals defeat Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, Lucknow, on April 12, for the 1st time in 4 IPL encounters. Kuldeep Yadav’s 3-fer , Jake Fraser McGurk’s quick 55(35) proved to be vital for Delhi’s 2nd win of IPL 2024.

Delhi, chasing 168 on a slow track, started well, with Prithvi Shaw scoring a good 32(22), however, both Shaw and David Warner got dismissed within 7 overs.

The 77 runs partnership between new pair – skipper Risabh Pant and Aussie power hitter, debutant Jake Fraser McGurk proved Match turning.

McGurk scored a quick fire 55(35), accompanied by Risabh Pant scoring 41(24) with strike rate of 171. Both targeted Krunal Pandya and Arshad Khan. Risabh Pant  completed his 3000 runs in IPL.

By the time they got dismissed, Delhi required less than a run a ball, and Shai Hope, Tristan Stubbs did the needful finishing to earn 2 crucial points, recording 2nd win of the tournament, defeating Lucknow for 1st time in IPL history in 4 encounters.

In 1st innings, Lucknow Super Giants fumbled in front of the likes of Khaleel Ahmed and Kuldeep Yadav who took 2 & 3 fer respectively, breaking Lucknow’s middle order.

Ayush Badoni’s aggressive 55*(35) accompanied by Arshad Khan (20) took Lucknow to 167/7 after 20 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav clinched the Man of the Match award for his match winning 3-fer.
