IPL 2024 : Kolkata Knight Riders clinch a last ball thriller win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru to mark 50th win at Eden Gardens

Kolkata : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by 1 run at Eden Gardens, Kolkata in a last ball encounter. This also marked their 50th win at their home venue.

Chasing 223 runs, Virat Kohli (18) & Faf Du Plessis (7) gave a quick start to RCB , before both lost their wickets.

Will Jacks (55) and Rajat Patidar (52) with a 102 runs partnership brought RCB back on track, bringing the score to 137-2 (11).

However, Andre Russell changed the course of the game , taking both Patidar and Jacks in the same over. Mahipal Lomror (4) & Cameron Green (6) too fell in Sunil Narine’s over cheaply.

Dinesh Karthik (25) and Prabhudesai (24) with a sensible partnership began taking the game to the end.

However, Prabhudesai and Karthik got dismissed in successive overs respectively, bringing the game in grip of KKR.

With 21 runs required off the last over, Karn Sharma (20) struck 3 sixes brought the score to 3 runs required off 2 balls.

However, Mitchell Starc and KKR managed to pull things off with Karn getting dismissed and Lockie Ferguson getting run out respectively off the last 2 Balls respectively, RCB getting all out on 221.

KKR ultimately won it by 1 run, with Russell being adjourned the Man of The Match for his crucial 3-fer.

In 1st innings, KKR Batting 1st got a good start with Philip Salt (48) playing an amazing fiery knock.

Despite middle order not scoring enough, Shreyas Iyer (50) played a captain’s knock.

Rinku Singh (24) , Ramandeep Singh (24) , Andre Russell (27) played important cameos targeting RCB bowlers to bring the score to 222-6 (20).
