Pune: Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson was fined Rs 12 lakh after his team defeated Rajasthan Royals in an Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match in Pune on Tuesday. SRH were defeated by RR by 61 runs in a one-sided encounter played on Tuesday at the MCA stadium in Pune.

“The Sunrisers Hyderabad have been fined after they maintained a slow over-rate during their IPL 2022 match against Rajasthan Royals at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on March 29,” the IPL stated in a media release.

“As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson was fined Rs 12 lakhs,” the statement added.

SRH were defeated when Sanju Samson’s 27-ball 55 contributed to RR’s score of 210/6. Devdutt Padikkal, Jos Buttler, and Shimron Hetmyer also scored 41, 35, and 32 runs, respectively.
Samson’s blazing knock included three fours and five sixes as part of a 73-run stand with Padikkal.

Meanwhile, the left-handed hitter set the tone, scoring 41 runs on 29 pitches. After a 58-run opening partnership driven mostly by Buttler, the two provided RR with the ideal foundation.

Hetmyer then supplied the final touches, blitzing 32 off only 13 deliveries to help RR finish strong.

Pacers Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult then ripped through SRH’s top order with the new ball, and the Williamson-led side were unable to recover and were reduced to 149/7.

Yuzvendra Chahal took three wickets, while Krishna and Boult both took two.
