IPL 2022: CSK’s Deepak Chahar, KKR’s Rasikh Salam ruled out with injuries

Mumbai: In what comes as a major blow Deepak Chahar, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Rs. 14 crores buy in the IPL 2022 auction,  has been ruled out of the IPL 2022 due to a back injury that he sustained while rehabbing at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

According to the results of the scan, Chahar will be out for at least four months for a back injury.
Not only IPL the speedster is also set to miss the T20 World Cup 2022 later this year in Australia as well. Chahar had been recovering at the NCA from his injuries.

“Chennai Super Kings bowler Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 owing to a back injury,” said the IPL in a statement. Chahar was a key component of CSK’s title triumphs in both 2018 and 2021. The four-time champions are yet to announce a replacement player.

Ravindra Jadeja-led Chennai Super Kings are already facing issues with their team combinations and also in their bowling department for obvious reasons. CSK lost 4 games in a row before beating RCB by 23 runs to open their account in the league thanks to a spectacular show from experienced Robin Uthappa and youngster Shuvam Dube.

Meanwhile, KKR pacer Rasikh Salam is also ruled out for the rest of the tournament with a lower back injury. The young pacer featured in two matches for kkr. The franchise has signed Harshit Rana as the replacement for Salam for the rest of the season. He will join the team at his base price of INR 20 lakh.

“Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have signed fast bowler Harshit Rana as a replacement for pacer Rasikh Salam for the rest of the TATA IPL 2022 season. Salam, who played 2 games for KKR this season, has been ruled out owing to a lower back injury and will take no further part in the tournament. His replacement, Harshit Rana, from Delhi will join KKR at his base price of INR 20 Lakh.” The statement added.
