Chennai: Mumbai Indians on Friday lost their third game of the season against Punjab Kings by nine wickets. Their overall performance wasn’t up to the mark in the game,
their batting line-up hasn’t delivered yet in this season.

Despite their not up to the mark performance what raised everyone’s eyes that was teams decision  to promote Ishan Kishan at number 3 ahead of in-form batsman Suryakumar Yadav. However, Ishan continued to struggle with the bat and he was dismissed by Bishnoi on 6.

Suryakumar Yadav provided a clarity about the Mumbai Indians’ tactic to promote Ishan Kishan at number 3, and explained that it was the management’s call to promote Kishan up the order.  “Ishan’s  promotion was completely management’s call and we decided collectively that if a left-hander gets out then a left-hander walks in. He and I have been playing a similar role in the past few years. So, I was completely okay with it. We both decided we’ll do the same way what everyone decides and we were clear in our plans very much,”  Yadav said after the match.

Taking about the loss Yadav said he isn’t too worried about the team’s middle-order and said it is just a matter of one game and it will make a strong comeback. MI’s middle-order once again failed to deliver on Friday. MI’s middle-order hard-hitting batsmen like Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya has not been able to perform to its potential. While skipper Rohit Sharma scored 63 for the side.

“They have been working really hard in the nets, every-day, every practice session, it is just a matter of one game, I feel, that we will be coming back into the games. Everyone is trying to take that responsibility in every game, it is just that it is not working, it happens in this sport, but I am sure they will come back really stronger.” Yadav said.

The five time champions also move away from the Chennai pitch to Delhi, where better and batting-friendly wickets, which would which would suit their style of play, can be expected.

“We don’t want to think about what has happened in Chennai. When we reach Delhi, I think things will be completely different, and MI will be a completely different side,” the 30-year-old stated.
