Mumbai: A superb batting display from Royal Challengers Bangalore meant they got their fourth win in row beating Rajasthan Royals by a 10 wicket at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday (April 22).

A maiden knock from youngster Devdutt Padikkal(101) coupled with a supportive Virat Kohli(72) lead RCB chase down the target without losing a wicket after Shivam Dube(46) and Rahul Tewatia(40) sent Rajasthan to 177/9 in 20 overs.

The Bangalore opening duo made the Sanju Samson’s side a mere spectator chasing a competitive target of 178. Padikkal was the aggressor in the most part of the innings. Considered as one of the best young prodigies, The 20 year old proved his worth smashing every Royals bowler out of the park.

RCB stormed to 59 in the powerplay which set the tone up for the chase. Padikkal brought up his half-century in the eighth over of the innings hitting boundary off Riyan Parag before he shifted the gears.

It doesnt come very often that Kohli had to play second the fiddle to a swashbuckling innings at the other end. It was untill the 12th over that the Bangalore skipper really turned up heat adding another half-century to his illustrious collection.

But the day belonged to 20 year old Padikkal who got to his ton bludgeoning Mustafizur Rahman through the covers becoming the third youngster centurian in the IPL behind Manish Pandey and Rishav Pant. They got the game over the line in the same over going to the top of the table.

Earlier, Rajasthan after horrible 43/4 in 7.2 overs clawed their way back into the game through a 66 run stand between Shivam Dube and Riyan Parag but the latter got dismissed looking good on 25 with Dube too following him soon for a well made 32 ball 46.

However, Rahul Tewatia’s quick fire 23 ball 40 down the order sent Rajasthan to a competitive total of 177/9.They could have gotten more if they didnt loose wickets in a bunch in the death overs.RCB’s decision of selecting Yuzvendra Chahal should be put into question with the spinner again being expensive giving away 18 runs in a couple of overs.Though, Harshal Patel(3/47) was a bit expensive despite picking up wickets but the other two Jamieson(1/28) and Siraj(3/47) were right on the money for Virat Kohli’s side.

Brief scores: Royal Challengers Bangalore 181/0 in 16.3 overs (Devdutt Padikkal 101 not out, Virat Kohli 72 not out) beat Rajasthan Royals 177/9 in 20 overs (Shivam Dube 46, Rahul Tewatia 40; Mohammed Siraj 3/27, Kyle Jamieson 1/28) by 10 wickets.
