IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals thrash Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets

Dubai: A resilient bowling perfomance followed by a stellar batting display helped Delhi Capitals register 8 wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League(IPL) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. First Kagiso Rabada and Axar Patel slammed the door of Sunrisers Hyderabad restricting to 134 before Delhi eased their way to victory in the 18th over climbing to the top of the table with seven wins.

Sunrisers struggled right through their innings thanks to some resilient bowling from the Delhi bowlers. Both the openers went home inside the powerplay with David Warner getting out for a duck.  Skipper Kane Williamson and Manish Pandey looked set to build up good base but both got dismissed at crucial stages.The South Afican duo of Kagiso Rabada(3/37) and Nortje(2/12) did their with much efficiency although the former went for a few runs. However, spinner Axar Patel(2/21) had a stellar outing slamming the door in those middle overs. Handy contributions down the order from Abdul Samad(28) and Rashid Khan(21) helped Hyderabad get to 134/9.

Despite the early loss of Prithvi Shaw, Delhi look composed throughout their chase. Shikhar Dhawan(42) joined hands with Shreyas Iyer(47*) setting up a good base before the south-paw got dismissed going for big shot off Rashid Khan finding Abdul Samad at the boundary. With the required always in their range, the fall of wicket didnt bother much to the Delhi side. Skipper Rishabh Pant(35*) hammered a few lusty blow in his breezy innings to get his side over line with Iyer hitting a huge six over mid-on to finish proceedings.

 Brief Scores: Delhi Capitals 139/2 in 17.5 overs(Shreyas Iyer 47*, Shikhar Dhawan 42; Rashid Khan 1/26) beat Sunrisers Hyderabad 134/9 in 20 overs(Sahal Abdul Samad 28, Rashid Khan 22; Kagiso Rabada 3/37, Anrich Nortje 2/12) by 8 wickets.
