Chennai: Delhi Capitals finally got their redemption against Mumbai Indians beating them by six wickets in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday (April 20). Amit Mishra (4/24) spearheaded a superb bowling performance at the MA Chidambaram Stadium restricting Mumbai on 137/9.

Rohit Sharma (44) and Surya Kumar Yadav (24) were only positives in horrendous batting display from the defending champions.  Shikhar Dhawan (45), Steve Smith (33) and Lalit Yadav (22) added valuable contributions helping Delhi score 138/4 despite the match going to the wire.

Mumbai’s batting stumbled from start to finish. Only four of their batsmen got double digits as Delhi’s bowlers ran havoc especially Mishra and Avesh Khan (2/15). Marcus Stoinis started the landslide sending Quinton de Kock home in the third over. Mumbai got a brief hope through a 58-run stand between skipper Rohit and Suryakumar until the later fell to Avesh.

The middle-order collapsed miserably with the Pandya brothers and Kieron Pollard again failed to step up when it needed the most. Valuable cameos from Ishan Kishan (26)and Jayant Yadav (23) helped Mumbai to 137/9 in 20 overs.

Delhi in reply, despite the early loss of Prithvi Shaw, managed to steady the ship through Dhawan and Steve Smith. The duo added 53 for the second wicket before Pollard trapped the former Aussie captain with Dhawan following suit soon.

Rahul Chahar (1/29) and Jayant (1/25) were the pick of bowlers for Mumbai. Lalit Yadav and Shimron Hetmyer (14) held their nerves to get Delhi home in the penultimate over with the Caribbean southpaw hitting a boundary of the first ball followed by no-ball by Pollard.
