IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings defeats Royal Challengers Bangalore

Mumbai: Moeen Ali (3/7) and Ravindra Jadeja (2/28) spun their web helping Chennai Super Kings register a 45-run win over Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League on Monday (April 19).

MS Dhoni’s side put on 188/9 Wankhede Stadium courtesy of a collective effort from batters with Faf du Plessis (33), Ambati Rayudu (27) and Dwayne Bravo (20) before their bowlers held Rajasthan to 143/9 registering their second win in a row.

Chasing 189, Rajasthan got a good start despite the loss of Manan Vohra and skipper Sanju Samson. Jos Buttler looked like he would take the game away single-handedly until Jadeja shook his timber for 45 before trapping Shivam Dube as well in the same over.

Ali’s golden arm broke the backbone of the Royals’ middle-order sending them home on single digit score. His crucial three-over completely titled the match towards Chennai. David Miller and Chris Morris could replicate last match’s heroics going to the pavilion cheaply.

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Chennai posted a stern total of 188/7 in 20 overs. Although None of the batters had big scores, the quickfire cameos from several players powered them post a competitive total.

Ruturaj Gaikwad failed once again getting just 10 but his partner Faf du Pless got 33 runs off 17 balls before. In the middle order, Rayudu and Ali added valuable runs down the middle-order. Bravo’s quickfire knock added the finishing touch to the Chennai innings.
