KL Rahul likely to lead India in home series against New Zealand after T20 World Cup

Mumbai: India might opt for most of their senior players for the T20I series against New Zealand starting less than a week after the final of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. As per sources, there might be a young team that will play the three T20’s against New Zealand who lost horribly and will like to give their answers back to the Kiwis.

The likes skipper Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and seamer Jasprit Bumrah have all been in bio-bubbles since the start of the World Test Championship in Southampton in June and it was quite clear that the fatigue of the congested fixtures and the Indian Premier League(IPL) did play its when the Indian side started their campaign in the T20 World Cup.
However, as far as the captaincy is concerned and with Virat Kohli stepping down from the leadership after the ongoing tournament, how does the management go about this thing. There’s the possibility of Rohit Sharma being given the full-time responsibility but for his probable absence during the upcoming home series, the management might opt for KL Rahul to lead the side.

Such a scenario could also bring the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devdutt Padikkal, Harshal Patel, Avesh Khan, and Venkatesh Iyer into the side who have performed well in domestic cricket as well as in the Indian Premier League(IPL) this season.

India vs New Zealand T20I series schedule

1st T20I: 17th November in Jaipur
2nd T20I: 19th November in Ranchi
3rd T20I: 21st November in Kolkata

India will also face the Kiwis in a two-match Test series after that starting from November 25 in Kanpur with the second game being from December 3 in Mumbai.
