Sharjah: Delhi Capitals registered a 46 runs win against Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at Sharjah on Friday (October 9).

Chasing a target of 184 Rajasthan started poor with Jos Butler getting out in the third over for just 13. Steve Smith was looking good on 24 before he whipped one to the on-side of a Anrich Nortje delivery only to find Hetmyer who took a spectacular catch diving forward. Youngster Yeshasvi Jaiswal tried his best to capitalise his opportunity but went to the pavilion for 34.

The Royals kept loosing wicket as the formidable bowling attack of Delhi kept it tight from start to finish with Ravichandran Ashwin being the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets for just 22 runs from 4overs.Tewatia tried his best but it wasn’t good enough and Rajasthan were all out for 138.

Earlier in the match, Steve Smith won the toss and opted to bowl. Delhi got hit early as opener Shikhar Dhawan got out for just 5. Prithvi Shaw followed him a few over later when he misjudged a delivery from Jofra Archer edging it sky high because of the extra pace from the England bowler giving simple catch to the bowler. Rishav Pant too had a brief outing and got run out for just 5. Archer was the pick of the bowlers chipping in with 3wickets while giving away Just 24 runs from his full quota while Tewatia was quite handy especially in those middle overs.

Shreyas Iyer along with Aussie all-rounder Marcus Stoinis started to rebuild the innings but the Delhi Skipper got run-out for 22. Stoinis was looking good in middle but went for a big hit of a Rahul Tewatia delivery only to find Smith who made no mistake with the catch. Shimron Hetmyar made sure the scoreboard keeps ticking with a squash-buckling 45 off 24 balls. In the end, Axar Patel scored a quick fire 17 off 8 balls to take the total to 184/8 in 20 Overs.
