Karun Nair has reportedly recovered from COVID-19.

New Delhi: Indian batsman Karun Nair, who had tested positive for COVID-19 has now recovered, according to reports. Nair, who plays for Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League, will travel to UAE with the franchise for the 13th edition of the tournament slated to begin from September 19.

According to ESPNCricinfo, Nair tested negative for COVID-19 on August 8 after being in self-isolation for over two weeks since being infected. The batsman will undergo three more tests as per the protocol laid out by the Kings XI Punjab management. He will travel to Bengaluru in a chartered plane from Delhi, which is expected to carry a small group of players from the franchise.

Nair has been a part of the KXIP for two seasons, having represented the side in 14 matches. The right-hander was the first high-profile Indian cricketer to have COVID-19. Recently, Rajasthan Royals’ fielding coach Dishant Yagnik tested positive for the virus on Wednesday.

The IPL has new norms this year because of COVID 19, including multiple tests and a week-long quarantine period upon reaching in UAE before all the teams can start to train. Also, as per the local government norms, any person entering the UAE would need to carry a negative test result taken in the previous 96 hours.
