Kolkata: India completed a clean sweep as they defeated West Indies by 17 runs in the final match of the three T20 match series.
With this victory, the Indian team has reached number one in the ICC T20 rankings.

Batting first, India set a target of 185 runs in front of West Indies. Suryakumar Yadav shone bright with a stunning 31-ball 65 runs with seven sixes and one four. Yadav made his best performance in the T20 International match, he got out on the last ball of the innings. Apart from him, Venkatesh Iyer played a good knock.
Suryakumar and Venkatesh Iyer added 91 runs in just 35 balls as India got the much-needed runs after a quick top-order failure.

Earlier, young wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan opened the innings with Ruturaj Gaikwad. Both the openers failed to deliver a good performance for the Indian team. Ruturaj Gaikwad got out in the 3rd ball of the third over and then Shreyas Iyer and Kishan had a very good partnership. Captain Rohit Sharma, batting at no.4, played a very poor knock of 7 runs off 15 balls and he was dismissed in the 5th ball of the 14th over.

Deepak Chahar had given India the best possible start, removing both West Indies openers inside the first three overs. Chahar, however, had to limp off the ground after tweaking his hip. For India, Shardul Thakur, Harshal Patel, Venkatesh Iyer and Deepak Chahar took two wickets each respectively.

Chasing a target of 185, the West Indies team lead by Kieron Pollard could only manage 167 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. West Indies were seven wickets down after Nicholas Pooran was dismissed on 61 early.  Romario Shepherd joined to give Pooran good company, who eventually fell for 61 by Thakur.

Despite losing two quick wickets of Kyle Mayers and Shai Hope (8) Rovman Powell and Nicholas Pooran began by dealing in boundaries. India fought back as Venkatesh Iyer struck in quick succession as he dismissed Pollard in the 9th over before removing Jason Holder in the 11th over, putting West Indies five wickets down. The West Indies spin duo of Hayden Walsh (1 for 30) and Roston Chase (1 for 23) bowled brilliantly in the middle overs as WI ended on 167/9 in 20 overs.
