IND vs SL: In Virat Kohli’s 100th Test Rishabh Pant takes India to 357/6

Mohali: India vs Sri Lanka first test’s day 1 went India’s way as they posted an adequate score of 357 for 6 wickets after the 85 overs. Rishav Pant’s aggressive knock of 97 helped India to accelerate the score.

 

Virat Kohli reached another milestone on his 100th test as he crossed 8000 test match runs after his knock narrowly missed out a half century. He looked lively on the pitch before being bowled out by Lasith Embuldeniya.

The opening partnership of Mayank Aggarwal and Rohit Sharma put up a strong start of 52. After their departure, the Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli Partnership looked solid and put 90 runs on the board with Vihari scoring a half century. Pant’s whirlwind innings did not let the Sri Lankan bowlers settle in after their partnership was broken. He missed out on a century by three runs after being bowled out by Suranga Lakmal.

Lasith Embuldeniya was most influential with the ball today, picking up two important wickets of Mayank Aggarwal and Virat Kohli.

Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are on the pitch after the first day. Jadeja nearing a 50. This duo will continue tomorrow with Jayant Yadav still to bat. A 400 run lead might be on the table for the men in blue.
