
Visakhapatnam : India defeated Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in 1st T20I at ACA VCDA Stadium, Visakhapatnam, owing to Jemimah Rodrigues’ half century.
Bowling first, Indian bowlers took wickets at regular intervals and restricted Sri Lankan run flow. Despite Vishmi Gunaratne’s (39) lone efforts, Sri Lanka could only manage 121-6 (20).
Chasing 122 , Indian openers Shafali Varma (9) & Smriti Mandhana (25) departed cheaply. Mandhana however became 2nd Women after Suzie Bates to cross 4000 runs mark in T20Is.
Jemimah Rodrigues played match winning knock of 69*(44) comprising 10 boundaries, accompanied by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (15*) for 55 runs partnership. She was also awarded Player of the match.
Both teams will clash against each other on 26th December for 2nd T20I.
