Thiruvananthapuram : India’s all round dominance push South Africa to backfoot in Greenfield International Stadium, as India defeat them by 8 wickets easily to get 1-0 lead. Arshdeep Singh, Suryakumar Yadav & KL Rahul with their 3-fer & 50s respectively guided India to their 1st win of the series .

Chasing a small total of 107 runs, India lost their skipper Rohit Sharma & veteran Virat Kohli early. KL Rahul also seemed to struggle from the other end, thus, India finished the powerplay with just 17 runs, their lowest total in powerplays, India seemed shifting momentum and innings pace in their favour with the arrival of Suryakumar Yadav who took charge of hitting the bowlers, Rahul , who was anchoring the innings from other end,gradually seemed getting momentum and gathering pace. The duo added a partnership of 93 runs, with both scoring half centuries, and ultimately Rahul finishing things off in style with a six in the 17th over thus clinching the match.

Earlier in the 1st innings putting Proteas to Bat, Indian pacers namely Deepak Chahar and Arshdeep Singh created havoc as the duo dismissed 5 South African batsmen for just 9 runs, picking 2 & 3 wickets each respectively. South Africa however, with the help of Aiden Markram, Wayne Parnell & Keshav Maharaj’s small contributions managed to score 106 runs at the end of 20 overs.
