Kolkata : Former Indian Football coach Igor Stimac reportedly moved to FIFA to file complain against AIFF over breach in his contract.
Stimac joined Indian team in May 2019, got an extended contract in last year’s October till 2026. However, AIFF shockingly sacked him after India’s horrible performance in FIFA WC 2026 qualifiers, as they failed to advance to 3rd round after facing defeats against Kuwait and Qatar in 2nd round.
According to reports, Stimac has now moved to FIFA with his lawyer seeking compensation till June 2026 , which AIFF allegedly hasn’t fully paid.
“It’s all in the hands of my lawyer,” said Stimac on Monday. “The case is very simple so I am confident about the final verdict.”
Stimac filed documents backing his claim to FIFA’s legal team. At the time of his sacking, AIFF offered him 3 months compensation salary which he rejected.
In 2022 and 2023, the three-month compensation clause was eliminated from Stimac’s contract paper.
After his removal, Stimac had said he would move FIFA over the non-payment of his dues as per the contract.
As per reports, Stimac was to be paid $30,000 per month till January 2025 and $40,000 thereafter till June 2026 which could amount to nearly Rs 7.5 crore, including interest.
Davor Radic, attorney at law, who is representing Stimac, said: “Our position is very simple. My client’s contract was terminated from the position of the head coach without just cause. The compensation offered to the head coach by the national association is not acceptable and so we have approached the FIFA Football Tribunal.”
Dealing with contract disputes is part of FIFA Football Tribunal’s remit. The tribunal has three chambers: the Dispute Resolution Chamber, the Players’ Status Chamber (PSC) and the Agents Chamber. PSC is likely to be referred to in this case.
