Mount Maunganui: Since Ashleigh Gardner tested positive for Covid-19, the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022 Event Technical Committee has approved Heather Graham as a temporary replacement in the Australia squad. All-rounder Graham had her one and only international appearance in 2019 against Sri Lanka, when she took a wicket in eight overs while conceding only 29 runs.

Gardner was tested positive with COVID 19 on March 3rd. In accordance with ICC and New Zealand Government Health protocols, she is currently being held in isolation for ten days. Her replacement would be temporary, and she would be eligible to return to the squad in place of the traveling reserve who replaced her once she recovered.

With a 12-run victory over England in their World Cup opener on Saturday, Australia got off to a winning start. On Tuesday, March 8th, they will face Pakistan in Mount Maunganui.
