Chennai : A 165 runs stand between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, helped India record their 1st win defeating Australia by 6 wickets . Virat Kohli and KL Rahul scored 85 & 97* respectively.

Chasing 200, India lost top 3 – Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan quickly on just 2 runs. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul began playing sensible Cricket, taking low risks, rotating the strike.

The duo occasionally rose to aggressive mode. Australia though had the chance to take Kohli’s wicket but they dropped him on 12 runs.

Both the Batters added a mammoth 165 runs stand, and changed the course of the game completely.

After Kohli’s dismissal at short mid wicket, KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya activated beast mode. KL Rahul finished the match at 97* , clinched a win & Man of the match for his heroics.

Earlier in the 1st innings, India suppressed Australia with their economical bowling. Despite losing Mitchell Marsh early, Warner and Smith built a good partnership.

After their dismissal, Australia began to collapse thanks to Indian spinners, and got all out on 199 runs. Ravindra Jadeja was the pioneer in Aussie collapse claiming 3 wickets.
