ICC CT 2025, PAK vs NZ: Tom Latham, Will Young smash tons as New Zealand defeat Pakistan by 60 runs

Karachi : New Zealand defeated host Pakistan by 60 runs at National Stadium, Karachi in Match 1, Group A encounter of ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Tom Latham and Will Young’s tons played major role in Black Caps’ triumph.

Being put to Bat first, New Zealand lost Devon Conway (10), Kane Williamson (1), Daryl Mitchell cheaply, on 73 runs.

Will Young (107) & Tom Latham (118*) smashed hundreds respectively along with 118(126) runs partnership that solidified New Zealand’s position in the game.

After Young’s dismissal in 37th over on 191 runs, Glenn Phillips (61) arrived and changed the pace of the game with 4 sixes and 3 boundaries, as Kiwis ended on 320-5 (50).

Pakistan, chasing 321, lost Saud Shakeel & skipper Md Rizwan early for 22 runs.

Babar Azam (64) began a slow anchoring approach, that piled up run rate pressure on middle order.

Despite aggressive efforts of Salman Agha (42), Khushdil Shah (69), Pakistan were bundled out for 260 (47.2).

Skipper Mitchell Santner and William O’Rourke bagged 3-fers.

Latham was adjourned Man of the match for his heroics.
