ICC announces dates for World Test Championship 2025 final

Kolkata : The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the dates for ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final at Lord’s on September 3.

Lord’s, the Home of Cricket will host the 3rd edition of ICC WTC. The date for the match will be 11-15 June, with 16th June kept as Reserve Day in case of rain.

An ICC official confirmed the news in a statement saying, “Lord’s to host the 3rd edition of World Test Championship final from 11 June 2025”.

It will be the first time that Lord’s has been used for the World Test Championship final, with Southampton as the venue for the first edition (2021) and The Oval as the venue for the second edition (2023), that were won by New Zealand and Australia respectively. Both the time each teams defeated India.

The match will be played between the top two sides on the standings at the completion of the current cycle, with Rohit Sharma’s India currently sitting in pole position ahead of reigning champions Australia.

However, teams like New Zealand (3rd), England (4th), South Africa (6th) , Sri Lanka (5th) , Bangladesh (7th) are still in contention and would give tough fights to the top 2 to qualify in the final.
