I-League 2021-22: RoundGlass Punjab come from behind to beat 10-man Aizwal; Real Kashmir hold Sreenidi Deccan

Kolkata: RoundGlass FC came back from behind in the added time to register a 4-3 victory over 10-men Aizwal FC in their tightly strung encounter at the Kalyani Stadium. Indian youngster and skipper of RGFC, Bikash Yumnam scored the winner for the Punjab side, ending Aizwal’s hopes of registering their first points so far in the tournament.On the other hand, I-League debutants Rajasthan United FC held Sudeva Delhi FC in a goalless affair.

Yan Law’s team started on a high note with former Delhi FC striker Dipanda Dicka bringing legit problems for the Punjab side. However, David Lalhlansanga opened the scoring for Aizwal in the 20th minute. It took RoundGlass Punjab 18 more minutes to find the equalizer through CK Vineeth. However, 20 years old Ramhlunchhunga scored two minutes later to restore the lead. Joseba Beitia scored from an awarded spot-kick to restore the parity for men in orange, before going into the break.

Coming from the break, it was Dicka who put Aizwal in lead again in the 47th minute through a penalty. Aizwal FC maintained their lead till the 92nd minute. As they thought they could get away with full points, Kurtis Guthrie and Yumnam striked twice in two minutes to hand all the three points to the team from Punjab. With the win, RGFC reach the top spot in the league table followed Mohammedan SC who are yet to play a game.

 

Elsewhere,at Naihati, I-League debutantes, Rajasthan United FC played out a goal less stalemate against Sudeva Delhi FC in a rather lack-luster affair. Both the teams had failed to create clear-cut chances though out the match. The lack of creativity from both sides meant both teams moved on to the next game with a solitary point. Souvick Das from Sudeva was awarded Hero of the Match.

Later, at Kalyani Stadium itself,the third and the final game of the night between Real Kashmir FC and Sreenidi Deccan resulted in the 1-1 draw. Goals from Tiago Adan and a 89th minute equalizer from Sreenidi Deccan midfielder Fredsan Marshall saw both the teams share spoils.
