Hasan Ali apologises for dropping Matthew Wade, urges Pakistan fans for support

Dubai: Pakistan pace bowler Hasan Ali issued a public apology to fans on Sunday after Pakistan’s heartbreaking loss in the semi-final of the ongoing ICC T20I World Cup against Australia.

Pakistan’s winning spree came to an end following this defeat and many fans held the right-arm quick responsible. Ali was subjected to vicious trolls following a dropped catch of Matthew Wade during the ICC T20 World Cup semifinal against Australia on November 11.

Ali took to Twitter and regretted for his forgettable outing against Australia, also issued an apology to Pakistani fans. He said he is more disappointed than anyone else and pledged to come back stronger from this bad phase of career.

“I know you all are upset because my performance didn’t meet your expectations but not more disappointed than me. Don’t change your expectations from me. I want to serve Pakistan cricket at the highest level possible, so back to hard work.” Ali tweeted.

“This patch will make me stronger. Thank you for all the messages, tweets, posts, calls and duas (prayers) – needed them.”

The incident took place in the 19th over when Ali dropped the crucial catch Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade as the Finch-led Australian side secure their berth in the T20 World Cup final. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam had also backed pacer Ali to deliver the goods for the Green Army at the T20 World Cup.

Several members of the cricket fraternity also extended their support to the Pakistani cricketer following Pakistan’s T20 World Cup exit. From legendary Indian opener Virender Sehwag to former Pakistani skipper Wasim Akram comforted Ali and called out trolls for solely blaming the pacer for Pakistan’s five-wicket defeat at Dubai.
