Gurpreet Singh Sandhu’s heroics saves Bengaluru FC against Chennaiyin FC

Goa: Too many chances created yet no goals scored, as Bengaluru FC and Chennaiyin FC finished at 0-0 at the Fatorda Stadium on Friday. This match was a mid-table clash between two of the former ISL Champions and was certainly a potential Friday night potboiler.

Chennaiyin started well with Manuel Lanzarote, who played for the side for the first time post his 14-day quarantine. He looked good from the first minute with his moves and his passes like he used to do for FC Goa or ATK.

Lallinzuala Chhangte came close to break the deadlock in the first half but was denied by the safe hands of Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. Bengaluru came close to scoring through their captain Sunil Chhetri but was denied by Eli Sabia in the Chennaiyin defence.

In the second half, Chennaiyin created more goal-scoring opportunities but was either off the target or was stopped by Gurpreet.

Chhangte could have scored a hat-trick but missed too many chances due to a lack of confidence in front of goal. Memo Moura came the closest to open the scoring in the second half after his free-kick rattled the post.

Naushad Moosa and Csba Laszlo would not feel happy with this result. The matches are getting over for these two big boys of the league to qualify for the last four.
