Kolkata: Asian Games 2026 Gold-Medallist Richa Ghosh received a grand welcome on arrival at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Thursday.
Carrying a congratulatory message from CAB President Sourav Ganguly, CAB Treasurer Sanjay Das welcomed the “golden girl” as late as 2 am in the night at the Kolkata airport by draping a traditional uttariya (scarf) around her. CAB CEO Mr. Chinmay Nayak and CAB Stadium Committee member Mr. Ambarish Mitra were also present. Richa was presented with a floral bouquet and box of sweets.
Notably, after India defeated Sri Lanka in the final on September 22 to win the gold, CAB Treasurer Sanjay Das had already spoken to Richa over the phone to convey congratulations on behalf of the CAB.
India beat Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the gold medal match on September 22 to emerge victorious. Richa played an explosive unbeaten 49 off 22 balls in the Asian Games 2026 Women’s Cricket Competition Final. At that time, it was India’s first Gold Medal of Asian Games 2026.
