Kozhikode : Gokulam Kerala FC is set to face off the Group A of the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2023 against Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies (Japan), Hualien Women’s Football Team (Chinese Taipei) and Bangkok FC (Thailand).
Gokulam Kerala FC, is the only team from India who will be heading in third consecutive championship. They earned their place in the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2023 at the behest of the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The previous season saw the club poised to compete in Uzbekistan, only to be disqualified after the AIFF was banned by the FIFA.

The group stage draw, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday, where eight top teams eying for their spots in the competition. The ultimate women champions of Asia will be determined in a final match between the winners of Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’, with the date to be announced by the AFC at a later time.
“We are very excited to play in the continental championship. Our group consists of strong teams from Japan, Thailand and Chinese Taipei. We have already started to work on the championship and will be fielding one of the best teams to make our country proud,” said Anthony Andrews Samson, the head coach of Gokulam Kerala FC.
President VC Praveen of Gokulam Kerala FC expressed his confidence and support for the team, stating, “After last year’s unfortunate turn of events, our women are poised to come back with even greater determination to vie for the title. We’re fielding a strong team, and I’m confident in their ability to perform at the continental championship.”
