Rajasthan: Former Indian skipper Mohammad Azharuddin on Wednesday (December 30) met with an accident in Soorwal Rajasthan. Azhar was unhurt according to his personal assistant. “No casualties or injuries have been reported,” said his personal assistant.

The accident occured near Soorwal police station on Kota mega highway and the pictures from the location hit the Internet soon after when his car lost control and crashed into a roadside restaurant.

“He was travelling along with three other people. Three other passengers of the vehicle too escaped unhurt but an employee of an eatery near which the SUV overturned received minor injuries,” said SHO Chandrabhan Singh of Soorwal police station.

Singh said the vehicle overturned into the adjoining field when the driver was negotiating the traffic near a roadside eatery and got too close to the edge of the road and got imbalanced. “The accident occurred barely six km from Ranthambore,” the SHO added.

Azharuddin managed to avoid any serious injuries and was taken to another car. The former captain was in Ahmedabad last week where he had recently attended BCCI’s 89th Annual General Meeting, in the capacity of Hyderabad Cricket Association President.
