Doha: Fans may begin registering to get FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022 tickets on Wednesday (January 19, 2022), with costs starting at roughly $70 for visitors, which is one-third less than the tournament in Russia.

During this first sales period, which had started at 15:30 IST and will finish on 8 February 2022 at 15:30 IST, fans will be able to submit their ticket applications.

FIFA tickets will be distributed through a regulated process rather than an open sale with the full range of prices still to be announced. Supporters requesting to attend matches at the Middle East’s first World Cup will only discover if they are successful based on a random draw after the first application phase which runs through Feb. 8.

The ticket process is beginning with only 13 of the 32 slots at the tournament filled and qualifying not concluding until the intercontinental playoffs in June.

“This is a FIFA World Cup for Qatar, the region, and the world, and the products launched today reflect FIFA’s goal of bringing the beautiful game to as many fans globally as possible,” said FIFA’s Secretary General, Fatma Samoura.

“The first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East and the Arab world will be an extraordinary event and together with our partners, rights holders, and other stakeholders, Qatar cannot wait to bring fans together to celebrate their shared passion for football, experience a new culture and enjoy everything that our country and region have to offer,” said Nasser Al Khater, the CEO of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 LLC.

The cheapest tickets in category four only for Qatari residents will cost 40 Qatari riyals ($11), the people said. The intended ticket prices will be the cheapest at a World Cup since $3 seats in Mexico based on 1986 exchange rates and half the price of those made available to locals at the equivalent of $22 in Russia in 2018.

For Qatari citizens, Visa payment cards are the only means of payment permitted, while overseas fans can use Visa payment cards or any recognised payment cards.

FIFA aims to generate $500 million from hospitality rights and ticket sales from the World Cup, according to the governing body’s most recent financial report.

Unlike previous World Cups, little travel will be required once in Qatar with the eight newly built stadiums within a 30-mile radius of Doha.

To allow attendees to reap the benefits of Qatar 2022’s compact nature, FIFA has contented the household limits from previous FIFA World Cups; now, each household can purchase up to six tickets per match and up to 60 tickets for the entire tournament to enjoy the matches with their friends and family.

More than 1.2 million people are expected to attend the World Cup, according to organisers. According to figures released to the Associated Press last month, Qatar expects 559,000 people to fly in for the group stage, with a high of 276,000 ticket holders around Nov. 27 and 28, necessitating an estimated 128,000 rooms.
