FIFA likely to impose a penalty on 5 Premier League clubs

Zurich : The Brazil FA had appealed to FIFA to impose the ‘five day rule’ on the Premier League clubs that refused to send their Brazilian internationals for their FIFA World Cup Qualifiers call up with Brazil being in the Amber list of UK.

The ‘five day rule’ is a way to protect international teams from the undue interference of the club. According to the rule, if a club detains their internationals from attending national team commitment, the club will not be able to feature the player in any relative competition for five days.

A total of eight players across five clubs from the Premier League are set to miss out on their encounters to be held from September 10 to 14. Liverpool’s Allison Becker, Fabinho and Roberto Firmino will miss their match against Leeds United who would be without Rapinha. Manchester City will be without custodian Ederson and forward Gabriel Jesus for their clash against Leciester City. Manchester United would have not be able to feature Fred against New Castle United while Chelsea will have to without the services of main man in defence Thiago Silva against Aston Villa as well as Zenit in their Champions League opener of the season. Zenit themselves will be without Malcom and Claudinho for similar reason.

However, Everton’s Richarlison is exempted from the barring given the cordial relationship between the English side and the Brazil FA.
