Goa: FC Goa failed to register their first victory of the Indian Super League season seven. The match North East United FC after high entertainment ended up in a one-all draw, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda. Idrissa Sylla opened the scoring for the Highlanders but Igor Angulo scored the equalizer and the match ended in that scoreline.

The match started with a promise as FC Goa was looking strong while going forward from the first minute. But North East looked promising with their counter-attacks against the run of play Idrissa Sylla earned a penalty for his side at the 40-minute mark and scored from the spot-kick.

Two minutes later Angulo of FC Goa equalized from a Brandon Fernandes pass. With the second half starting straight with a promise of more goals but both the team failed to capitalize on the opportunities they got in the second half. Rather a fight was almost broke out between coaches Juan Ferrando and Gerard Nus after a heated exchange of words. Goa looked a bit out of shape and it has been their worst possible start of recent years and for NorthEast we can consider themselves as dark horses of the league.

NEUFC has been good in their first three games. Its been their best start of the ISL in recent years. They looked hungry and promising against Goa whom they have never beaten at the Fatorda. But the team is playing well under Nus and we are hoping for a promising season for the Highlanders this year.

FC Goa under Ferrando needs more time. They lacked the goalscoring power they had in previous seasons. No doubt missing out on key players from the squad can affect the morale of the side but it’s a race of winning the league and the Gaurs need to buck up as soon as possible to be on the hunt of winning their maiden ISL trophy.
