Manchester: Manchester City had put on a gala show as they defeated Leicester City by 6-3 in the English Premier League on Sunday ( December 26) at the Etihad Stadium. Arsenal handed Norwich City a heavy 5-0 defeat. The Boxing day fixtures did not disappoint as Chelsea came back from behind to defeat Aston Villa by 3-1.

Goals from  Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez, and Raheem Sterling took City to a flying start as the hosts took a 4-0 lead in the opening 25 minutes of the game. What looked like an easy victory for Pep Guardiola’s men was halted when Leicester almost made a dream comeback.

In the second half, Leicester fought back brilliantly as James Maddison, Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho made it 4-3. However, Pep’s men had the last laugh as they extended their lead by an Aymeric Laporte header. Sterling completed his brace and sealed the game for the Citizens as he scored the sixth goal.

Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta’s men conquered their fourth consecutive victory in a league match with a show against Norwich. Arsenal now has 35 points from 19 matches. Bukayo Saka opened the scoring for the Gunners, as left-back Kieran Tierney doubled the lead.

At the hour mark, Saka added the third goal of the match, which was followed by striker Alexandre Lacazette scoring a penalty in the final 10 minutes of the game. Midfielder Emile Smith Rowe put the nail on the coffin scoring the fifth goal of the match.

For another London club, things looked bad at the start as Aston Villa took the lead through an own goal by Reece James. Jorginho equaled the scoreline before Romelu Lukaku scored to give Chelsea the lead. Jorginho was called back into action as he scored the second penalty of the match to give Chelsea a much-needed victory to stay in the race for the title.

Tottenham on the other hand had it easy as they beat 10 man Crystal Palace by 3-0. Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-Min found their names on the scoresheet.
