London :Liverpool closed down the Premier League title race gap to nine points with a 3-1 win over Crystal Palace. Chelsea on the other hand also won 2-0 against Tottenham Hospur at Stamford Bridge.

Virgil van Dijk opened the scoring after eight minutes and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain doubled the lead just after the half hour mark. Odsonne Edouard made it 2-1 just after the first half break but Fabinho’s late penalty made the game safe for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

After Manchester City’s 1-1 draw against Southampton, the victory helped Klopp reignite his dreams for the title race as Liverpool close down the points gap. Van Dijk and Alex Oxlade gave their team the lead but Odsonne took some pressure off as he pulled one back for his team. Alisson made some great saves to keep Liverpool in the game.

Alisson has bailed us out a good few times in the past and today he had some moments. We haven’t got anyone else we’d want other than him,” Oxlade-Chamberlain told after the match.

Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva found themselves on the scoresheet as former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte did not a have sweet return to Stamford Bridge. It looked Harry Kane opened the scoring in the match but his goal did not stand as the referee already whistled for a foul on Silva.

Early into the second half, Callum Hudson-Odoi found Ziyech, who curled the ball into the top corner with a left foot finish. Just eight minutes later, Mason Mount’s freekick into the box was slotted past Hugo Lloris by Silva.
