Manchester: Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund have agreed on a deal with Manchester United over the signing of 21-year-old English forward Jadon Sancho for an initial fee of 85 million euros till 2026. The deal will see Sancho return to his homeland after four years in Germany.

Sancho is currently with the English squad at Euro 2020 where they will face Ukraine in the quarterfinals on the weekend. Sancho will be joining the Red Devils following his successful medical test at Old Trafford.

Sancho was in United’s charts since the previous year and the youngster himself showed a lot of interest in the Premier League side. Sancho had a great time with Dortmund finding the net 50 times in 137 appearances since he moved there from Manchester City in 2017.

The 2017 U-17 World Cup winner England, Sancho has been in great form this season scoring 13 goals in 20 games. Even though Sancho had an underwhelming six minutes in the Euro 2020 under Gareth Southgate, his impact on the field is always positive energy for the side.

Sancho’s departure was confirmed by Borussia Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke in a news conference. “We reached a general agreement with Manchester United on the transfer of Jadon Sancho, pending full completion, as there are still some formalities to agree on and the medical check to be completed,” Watzke said.

Dortmund have also released a club statement which stated, “The player Jadon Sancho is about to move from Borussia Dortmund GmbH & Co. KGaA to Manchester United Football Club Limited.

“Both clubs and the player reached an agreement on this today. If the transfer is realised, Manchester United will pay BVB a fixed transfer fee of EUR 85.0 million. The contractual details now have to be coordinated and documented.

“The formal processing of the transfer is also subject to the successful completion of all necessary medical tests and examinations, a coordination procedure with the player’s previous club and the proper and timely processing in accordance with the provisions of the FIFA Transfer Matching System (FIFA TMS),” it said.

Sancho was an integral part of the England side in 2017 in India. He scored three goals in the group stages before he was withdrawn by Dortmund. Dortmund resisted Sancho’s call-up in the national squad but reached an agreement with the England FA that if they reach the knockouts, the youngster will be withdrawn.

Sancho is an outstanding signing but how Manchester United line up with him, already having attacking talents like Marcus Rashford, Donny Van de Beek and Mason Greenwood already, will be a thing to look out for.
