Emami East Bengal rope in Kamaljit Singh, Sumeet Passi ahead of ISL 2022-23

Kolkata : Emami East Bengal is pleased to announce their three domestic signings on thursday eve. Kamaljit Singh from Odisha FC, Sumeet Passi from Round Glass Puniab FC and Lalchungnunga from Srinidhi Deccan.

Last season, team East Bengal suffered a lot in the goal keeper position, as their goalkeeper contingents were not up to the mark. But this year under Stephen Constantine’s leadership the team didn’t want to take any risk in their goalkeeper spot. The 26-year-old goalkeeper Kamaljit Singh signed Emami East Bengal from Odisha FC. The Punjabi goalkeeper has made 44 appearances in the ISL including 12 for Odisha FC last season when he also saved two penalties.

Where as, The 27-year-old Sumeet Passi , the utility player has been signed on a free transfer after spending last season at RoundGlass Punjab FC where he made 17 appearances in the I-League. The former Jamshedpur FC player has made 32 appearances in the ISL scoring 3 goals and has played eight times for the India senior national team under the coaching of Stephen Constantine.

Another youngster Lalchungnunga, a 21-year-old versatile defender has been signed on loan from I-League Club Sreenidi Deccan FC. Nunga made 17 appearances last season and was also named in the I-League All Star Squad of 2021-22. The Mizoram defender had also played for Aizawl earlier in the I-League and this will be his first ISL stint.

Just a week left to start if the Durand Cup, East Bengal team is really looking good with their domestic recruits but still there’s a question of foreign signings. Emami East Bengal has been linked with many foreigners but yet to sign one.
