Kolkata: The Eden Gardens Stadium has been prepared as a quarantine safe home for Kolkata Police personnel, the authorities announced on Sunday. The decision has been taken after a meeting between the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) officials and the Kolkata Police in Lalbazaar earlier last month.

It had been decided that the galleries of E, F, G and H block are going to be used for the safe home facilities. As of now, the work has been completed at the E and F block of the stadium. “The Police Authorities have set up quarantine facilities under galleries of E and F Blocks at present. The facility is expected to be operational soon. We have also allowed them to use our Mini Hospital Area in F Block which would be used by doctors who would be monitoring those in quarantine,” said CAB president Avishek Dalmiya.

The Kolkata Police urged CAB in the month of July to make use of the space under the galleries of the stadium for makeshift of quarantine facilities. “We and CAB feel that it is our duty to stand by the administration in this hour of crisis and especially for those who are the COVID warriors, who are risking their lives to cope up the pandemic,” Avishek added further.
