Mumbai: According to an official release issued on Saturday, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has been fined 100% of his match money for violating the Indian Premier League (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s game against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Pant accepted the penalty after admitting to the Level 2 infraction under Article 2.7 of the IPL Code of Conduct. For violating the Code of Conduct, Pant’s teammate and all-rounder Shardul Thakur was penalized 50% of his match money. Thakur, too, agreed to the Level 2 offence and accepted the penalty under Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

Pravin Amre, the Delhi Capitals’ assistant coach, has also been penalised 100% of his match fee for violating the Code of Conduct. For his actions, he faces a one-match suspension.

Amre accepted the punishment for the Level 2 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct.

The Delhi Capitals needed 36 runs in the final over of the match on Friday to win chasing 223. Rajasthan pacer Obed McCoy produced a full-toss that Rovman Powell smashed for a six on the third delivery of the over. The Delhi Capitals camp, on the other hand, mistook it for a no-ball and began gesturing from the dugout.

Pant was seen motioning for Powell and Kuldeep Yadav, the two batters, to leave the field shortly after. After that, Amre walked onto the field to speak with on-field umpire Nitin Menon.

While Amre was chatting to Menon, Jos Buttler of the Rajasthan Royals stepped over to the Delhi Capitals dugout to speak with Pant.
