East Bengal to face Town Club in P. Sen Tournament 2026 final after thrilling super over win over Mohun Bagan

Kolkata: East Bengal will face Town Club in P. Sen Memorial Invitational Tournament 2026 final after nail biting super over win against Mohun Bagan AC in semi final at JU Campus.

East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan

Batting first in East Bengal posted 291 in 37.3 overs with help of half centuries from Sudip Gharami (57), Manishankar Murasingh (53) and Writtick Chatterjee (50), despite being 36/2 initially.

Mohun Bagan’s Ravi Kumar bagged 4/48 to clean up East Bengal and set Mohun Bagan 292 target.

Chasing 292, Mohun Bagan started well with Abhishek Kumar Raman (61) and skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran (88) smash 118 runs opening partnership in 12.4 overs.

However, Mohun Bagan middle order suddenly began to fumble and lost wickets at regular intervals. They faced big blow when Easwaran was dismissed by experienced Shreyan Chakraborty.

Chirag Jani (46*) , Vivek Singh (30) and Shivam Sharma (22) played handy cameos. The equation came down the wire with 14 required off last over where Chirag Jani smashed 3 boundaries in 5 balls he faced to tie the encounter.

East Bengal’s Vikas Singh (3/45) and Rishabh Chaudhary (2/18) played vital roles in stopping an aggressive Mohun Bagan who could’ve chased down the total easily.

In Super Over, Shivam Sharma and Vivek Singh smashed 14 runs to Manishankar. Chasing 15 runs, despite Ravi Kumar dismissing Rishabh Chaudhary in 2nd Ball of the over, Manishankar smashed him for 2 sixes in last 2 Balls of the over to hand a memorable win to East Bengal.

Town Club vs Barisha Club

On other hand, Town Club defeated Barisha Club by 5 wickets. Town Club bowling first, dismantled Barisha for 151 despite half centuries from Prabhat Maurya (72) and Priyanshu Gaurav Srivastava (50). Town Club’s Rahul Prasad (3/32) bagged 3-fer , while Subham Sarkar, Sujit Kumar Yadav and Harsh Dev Gautam picked 2 wickets each.

Chasing 152, Town Club opener Suprodip Debnath got dismissed off the first Ball of the second innings of Soumyadip Mondal. However, Ankur Paul smashed 69 (66) with 8 boundaries and 2 sixes. The finishing blows were given by Rahul Prasad (21), Avilin Ghosh (12*) as Town Club got past the target in 26.3 overs to enter the final.

Both East Bengal and Town Club will face each other in final on Wednesday.
