Imphal/Kolkata: The double-headers of the 131st Durand Cup, presents two high-battle games in Imphal and Kolkata respectively. Group C starrers Hyderabad FC and Chennayin FC face off at the Khuman Lampak Stadium in Imphal. FC Goa to fight with amshedpur FC Group A game at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) in Kolkata.
A clash of the Titans
The first game of the day features present Indian Super League (ISL) champions Hyderabad FC (HFC) and two time ISL winners Chennayin FC (CFC) at full strength as well, promising a blockbuster at the Khuman Lampak.
Coach Manolo Marquez makes HFC look in total control of their first game against local favourites TRAU FC. Spanish midfielder Borja Herrera controlling and distributing with elan. The goal’s by Borja himself and by Halicharan Narzary reflected the quality in their side.
Chennayin FC have displayed the some quality, with the Edwin Vanspaul strike who scored a couple of goals. But they also conceded two from set-pieces. German gaffer Thomas Brdaric will be hoping to tighten up those aspects.
Battle of the young Turks
The evening game pits FC Goa against Jamshedpur FC. Both have brought along relatively younger sides with talents like Nemil and Vinil Poojary, to name a few.
FC Goa pocketed a win in their previous game against the Air Force. Jamshedpur FC are still searching for one after having two tough outings against Bengaluru FC and Mohammedan FC.
