Mumbai: Fantasy cricket league platform Dream11 has won the title rights for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League which will start in UAE from September 19. Dream11, who is already a partner with BCCI, thus outbids favourites Tata Sons, who were considered as one of the frontrunners.

Apart from Dream11 and the Tata Group, the other bidders were education technology platforms – Byju’s and Unacademy. Dream11 won the bid for Rs 250 crores, according to sources. Sources also inform that Dream11 won the rights on the strength of their financial bid.

Others’ bids were Unacademy (210 crores), Tatas (180 crores) and Byju’s (125 crores). Dream11 comes in after the BCCI and VIVO suspended their sponsorship ties earlier last month in the wake of the India-China standoff at the Galwan Valley in Ladakh in June. Vivo is fully funded by a Chinese company.
